doctor/tardis on top of the world

for muse_erotica: Great Sex vs. Great Love

You have a choice to make, right now.

One choice is: Great love. The greatest, heart filling, soul enriching, warm and fulfilling love that anyone has ever known. The downside, unfortunately, is that you will only have pleasant sex. Nothing kinky, earth shattering or special. Just…nice.

The other choice is: Great sex. Mind blowing, decadent, explosive, delicious sex, no matter who you have it with or how many times. Every sexual encounter will be epic. The downside to this is that you will never have love. No one will love you, and you will not love them. It won’t be unpleasant. No hate. Just no love.

No hedging. No tricks. No loopholes. Choose this prompt and you choose one or the other. Could you?

Really, this isn't an easy question.

You have to consider the pros and cons to each choice, don't you? And whether or not you'll actually use either choice.

Sex. Great and amazing sex or whatever. Really, I'm not a very sexual person. Been around as long as I have, you've pretty much done it all and, well, it gets dull. There're more orgasmic experiences to be had with well-prepared food or a beautiful double sunrise. I sincerely doubt I'll be using this at all. Still, no side effects. Unless you don't use proper protection.

Love. Great and true and pure love. It's wonderful, isn't it? Feeling that you've got someone you could completely match up to. I've had this. Several times, actually. Loved someone so much I could hardly stand it. Then I've lost them.

Do you have any idea how much it hurts losing someone you love? Live as long as I do, live the life I do, and there's no such thing as forever. No such thing as a soulmate. Just a string of people you can't possibly forget whittling a little more of you away before they vanish.

Maybe I'm jaded. Actually, I'm fairly certain that I must be somewhat jaded, at the very least. Spent whole incarnations as surly and angry as possible to simply spare myself from finding someone to love because I knew I would lose them.

Why would I want something that would guarantee me that kind of heartsbreak?

I'll take the knowledge that I'll always have amazing sex. Sure, I'll never use it, but at least when I'm sitting around with Jack and he's boasting I'll know that my experience would always be better than his.
